Another day, another challenge...

Today we'll start getting into actually doing something! Here's my challenge for myself and for you if you choose to accept it. This is one of the things I picked up from Flylady that really DOES work for me, it's just a matter of doing it. Before you sit down to relax, scrap, watch tv or whatever, set a timer for 15 minutes. Pick ONE room in the house and clean as much as you can in those 15 minutes. When the timer goes off, be satisfied with what you got done and don't obsess over what you still have to do. If you're feeling really motivated, set the timer for 30 minutes (AFTER the 15) and relax. After those 30 minutes, clean for 15 minutes again. It's truly amazing what you can get done in such a short time if you focus on what you are doing!

For today's layout, take a before and after picture in the room you choose to work on. For the journaling, type how you felt looking at the room before, and how you feel now that you've accomplished something. This will be a reminder in the future that 15 minutes CAN make a difference!

Day One...

Well, I did get a bit done before I sat down at the computer. The living room looks decent with the exception of some little boy clothes that I'm trying to figure out WHAT to do with, the dishes are done, and I am getting ready to go to bed as soon as I'm done posting this and my regular blog.

Did anyone join me on taking a look back at what worked and what didn't? I've only tried 3 "methods" of cleaning. All have worked to an extent, but nothing fully yet. Flylady worked pretty well for me and if I stuck with it I could probably do well. It's that sticking with it that got me! Motivated Moms seemed like it would work, but I didn't like it as well. And then there was my "I can do this on my own" method which didn't work at all! LOL

Here's the LO I created for today's personal challenge. This is created with one of my templates and Miss Mint's Terracotta Charm kit. I LOVE this kit!!!At the end of the week, anyone who is still with me is going to get a pretty decent sized freebie, so be sure you post your LO links in the comments area! And put your name somewhere in the comments so I know who you are!

Take a look back

As I said before, this is a personal journey for me. I need to do something to get my life in order. I'm the type of person who is usually very single track minded and since I work full time out of the home, have a 14 month old to raise when I'm not at work, and I'm now working as a designer part time at night, its time to learn to keep all of those plates spinning! I'm hoping you'll join me! Perhaps together we can get our homes and our lives in order, and of course have fun doing it!

Before we jump in feet first to a better life, let's all take a look back. What have you tried in the past? Did it work? What did you like? What did you hate? Why did you stop? Do a layout showing what you've done in the past and tomorrow we'll start to move forward!

Post a link to your layout in comments. Everyone who participates will get some freebies throughout the next few weeks!

Coming Monday!!!

tarting next Monday, I’m going to start a challenge for myself and I’d love to have you join me! Do you feel like you don’t have time to do everything you need to do? Like some areas of your life suffer because there aren’t enough hours in a day?
Do you look at your house and know that you’d feel better if you could just get off your backside and do something? That you’d have more energy if you got up and DID something? I know I do!

I was thinking about the fact that I look at my disorganized house and KNOW that I’d feel better if it was clean. I wouldn’t have that sinking feeling in my stomach because I hate the way it looks. I know that I’d feel better if I did something to make my house (ok, my apartment) MINE! I know that I’d have more energy if I got more exercise. I’d feel better about myself if I did little things to pamper myself. So WHY don’t I just do them?????

Starting next Monday, I’m going to start building a reminder journal. You’ll have to stop back for all of the details, but hopefully this will become a way to keep myself motivated!

For those who join me and are brave enough to post their motivation LOs to the gallery of their choice and put a link on my blog, there WILL be prizes!
